The Tomb of Bhangarh While Bhangarh is now infamously known for being the most haunted place in India, just outside its fortification is a tomb, which the locals say is the tomb of the Tantrik who cursed the fort. But in reality the tomb said to be that of the son of Raja Hari Singh the ruler of Bhangarh. One of Hari Singh’s sons is said to have converted to Islam, and it is his tomb that stands here today. Over time, as the Mughal power declined, Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh established his authority over the region by taking control of the fort. Interestingly, when you ask the locals about this tomb, they’ll often tell you that it belongs to the Tantrik who once cursed Bhangarh, leading to its eerie fate. The lore has merged so deeply with history that fact and folklore now walk side by side. On certain days, an annual observance is held here, locals prepare malpua and Pumpkin ki sabzi as offerings for the occasion, in what they call a kind of chadhava.
